Electromagnetic Equipment (EM) is effective at locating metallic utilities up to 15 feet below the surface. Some examples include:

  • Water Pipes

  • Electrical Lines

  • Gas Lines

  • Sewer and Storm Pipes

EM Equipment consists of a transmitter and receiver. The transmitter applies a signal to a metallic line for the receiver to pick up.

Duct Rodder - The Duct Rodder has a tracing cable embedded within the fiberglass rod for faster utility locating without digging or trenching. The copper wire is energized with an Electromagnetic signal. Once energized the Duct Rodder is pushed into an underground pipe a receiver is able to locate the path and approximate depth of the utility being traced

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) - Ground-penetrating radar is a geophysical method that uses radar pulses to image the subsurface. GPR helps with confirming metallic utilities. It is also able to detect non-metallic lines. Below are some examples.

  • PVC Water and Sewer Lines

  • Concrete Pipes

  • Fiberglass Underground Storage Tanks

The GPR Cart sends continuous electromagnetic pulses through the earth, then receives the reflected waves back from the underground structures. The results construct an image of the underground structures which then can be marked out by an employee.

Video Pipe Inspection - Push Camera

Our Push cameras can access pipes through smaller spaces like vents, cleanouts, and toilet plumbing to locate small lateral lines in a sewer system. It contains a sonde that can also be detected by an EM locator to map non-metallic pipes as part of a full site utility scan. Depending on pipe condition and style, Our camera has the capabilities to access larger pipes up to 24 inches.

Facility Mapping Services - Once we locate your utilities we can provide you with a detailed map showing their exact locations.
